Boston United Home 2004-06

A notable addition to the Pilgrims' squad was former England international Paul Gascoigne, who joined the club on a short-term basis, as a player-coach. Assigned his famous number 19 shirt for the forthcoming season, Gascoigne was presented in front of the media against his former club Newcastle, a game which he started. Gascoigne went on to make 10 appearances for Boston before leaving in October.

This season for Boston was also notable for their progression in the Carling Cup. Playing Championship side Luton Town was at first a daunting task for United, but they were in form following two consecutive league wins against Chester and Cambridge. The Pilgrims overcame Luton, winning 4-3, setting up a tie with Premier League club Fulham. 5373 people attended the second round tie at York Street, but Boston lost 4-1 at the hands of Chris Coleman's men. Playing for Fulham were many international players, such as Luis Boa Morte, Steed Malbranque, Brian McBride and Tomasz Radzinski.

Barcelona Home 1998-99

During the 1998-99 FC Barcelona season, the club once again retained the La Liga title, but eliminated by Valencia in the quarter-final of Copa del Rey. Barcelona enjoyed a great season with their new signings Ronald de Boer, Patrick Kluivert, Frank de Boer, Mauricio Pellegrino, Boudewijn Zenden and Phillip Cocu. Barcelona had a league tough start in early season but Barcelona later made a remarkable turnaround to secure La Liga in late-May, thanks to Real Madrid's several slips. Following another lackluster performance in the First Group Phase against two European giants Bayern Munich and Manchester United with wins, draws and losses twice respectively and thus prevented Barcelona qualified to UEFA Champions League quarter finals.

Another noticeable icon at The Catalans was Barcelona and Real Madrid Legend Luis Figo. In July 2000, Figo made a surprising and controversial €62 million move to Barcelona's bitter rivals Real Madrid. Real Madrid met the buy out clause in Figo's contract at Barcelona, a new world record fee, and his arrival at Madrid signalled the beginning of Florentino Pérez's Galáctico era of global stars signed by the club every year. Figo became the new focus of the Barcelona-Real Madrid rivalry, with Barcelona fans feeling betrayed by his transfer and turned against him.

Manchester United Home 1995-96

The 1995-96 season was Manchester United's fourth season in the Premier League, and their 21st consecutive season in the top division of English football. United finished the season by becoming the first English team to win the Double (league title and FA Cup) twice. Their triumph was made all the more remarkable by the fact that Alex Ferguson had sold experienced players Paul Ince, Mark Hughes and Andrei Kanchelskis before the start of the season, Ferguson opted against making any major signings. Instead, he had drafted in young players like Nicky Butt, David Beckham, Paul Scholes and the Neville brothers, Gary and Phil.

Eric Cantona returned from his eight-month suspension at the beginning of October, and finished the season as the club's top scorer with 19 goals in all competitions, the last one being the winner against Liverpool in the FA Cup Final. He also picked up a Premier League winner's medal and the FWA Player of the Year award. The Premier League title was sealed on the final day of the season with a 3-0 win at Bryan Robson's Middlesbrough.

The season also produced one of the most infamous moments in football shirt history, when United changed their kits at half-time during their away defeat to Southampton, with Alex Ferguson stating that it was because he felt the kit left players unable to spot each other on the pitch, as well as the fact that United had not won a single of their five games played wearing the kit.
